HaRP Approach
The Health Research Program (HaRP) seeks to reduce the following maternal and infant health outcomes, including:
- Mortality related to pregnancy through six months postpartum
- Fetal loss, pre-term birth and infant mortality through six months of age
- Maternal morbidity due to infection and obstetric complications
- Maternal nutritional status and body composition
- Infant growth and morbidity
Secondary aims of practical importance include:
- Assessing the prevalence and risk factors of multiple facets of maternal morbidity elucidating causes of pregnancy-related and non-pregnancy mortality among rural women of reproductive age
- Describing health-seeking behavior of mothers during and following pregnancy
- Revealing the burden of epidemiology of birth defects in infants
